About
Born in response to the challenges facing education and the intellectual life in our region, Tamkeen | Swaida Scholars Network is a non-profit initiative in the pre-registration stage dedicated to reviving research, education, and academic collaboration in and for Swaida.
We believe that academic research must reach beyond the ivory tower, that it must speak to people’s lives, safeguard their heritage, and foster resilience in the face of adversity.

Mission
Our mission is to:
- Rebuild academic capacity by supporting scholars, students, and researchers from Swaida and the diaspora.

- Advance research and education in the social and political sciences and humanities, while also nurturing inquiry in fields such as environment, sustainability, medicine, and cultural heritage.
- Equip students and young researchers with the tools and skills necessary to pursue academic excellence, from research methods to proposal writing, from publication guidance to professional mentorship.

- Create a safe, inclusive, and collaborative environment where knowledge is exchanged freely and integrity, respect, and curiosity guide every interaction.
- Promote academic freedom, critical thought, and global partnerships that amplify Swaida’s voice in regional and international dialogues.
Through this work, Tamkeen aims to restore education as a form of resilience, to turn learning into a source of empowerment, hope, and collective renewal.
Vision
We envision a resilient Swaida, a community where education, research, and free inquiry become pillars of recovery, dignity, and progress. Tamkeen seeks to bridge the gap between academia and society, transforming knowledge into action and empowering scholars, students, and citizens to shape a future rooted in justice, sustainability, and understanding. Our vision is of an open, inclusive academic network that reclaims the transformative power of learning for the public good, ensuring that scholarship serves not only the classroom, but the community.
